The Bookkeeper Certification program was developed by a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm to educate and certify the firm’s clients’ bookkeeping personnel. Over the past 10 years, the Bookkeeper Certification program has been used by hundreds of small business and nonprofit organizations to educate and certify bookkeeping personnel.
Objective
The objective of the Bookkeeper Certification is to assure small business and nonprofit owners and employees that the bookkeeper possesses the knowledge and skills to perform bookkeeping accurately and productively.
The primary objective of bookkeepers seeking bookkeeper "certification" is to learn bookkeeping or enhance their bookkeeping knowledge and skills and make themselves more marketable. It is a form of assurance to prospective employers.

Requirements
The Bookkeeper Certification program includes an educational component comprised of the Bookkeeping for Small Businesses Guide. The Guide is for bookkeepers who want to learn or enhance their knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and financial statements and serves as the educational foundation for our Bookkeeper Certification exam. The Guide can also be used as a training and reference tool for bookkeeping personnel.
Individuals who meet these requirements receive our Bookkeeper Certificate.

Bookkeeper Certification Exam
UBA's Bookkeeper Certification exam is used to test the bookkeeper's bookkeeping, accounting, and financial statement competency. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions. As you complete the Guide you may request access to the exam via email or telephone. You have 24 hours to take and submit the exam for grading and the exam is "open-book". You must receive an 80% in order to pass the exam. Test results are made available to you within 24 hours. If necessary, you must wait one full week to retake the exam. However, there is no additional fee to retake the exam. To request the exam, please email exams@utahba.org or call 866-444-9989.
